The Minister of Uganda for Education and Sports, Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire has urged school administers around the country to work with parents and members of the communities to ensure proper and strong discipline in schools.
Addressing parents, students and administrators of King’s College Budo, Bitamazire (pictured)described indiscipline as the major cause of strikes and destruction of school property in different schools of Uganda.
Bitamazire further urged schools to get ready to handle fires in the county.
Between 2008 and 2009 several schools in Uganda experienced fire outbreaks, which resulted in loss of lives and property worth billions of shilling.
The Minister urged school administrators and teachers to work together with parents to foster strong discipline among pupils and students.
Bitamazire also advises school proprietors to install security cameras in their schools and employ trained guards.
