Karim Hirji

The proprietor of the Imperial group of companies Karim Hirji has maintained he will not refund any money to the government for accommodation of CHOGM delegates.

Imperial Royal one of Karim Hirji’s hotels in Kampala was contracted to provide accommodation in 2007 for delegates who were coming for CHOGM meeting in Munyonyo.

The facility’s conference halls were also booked to serve as a media centre and hold business meetings during the event.

Karim says the delegates did not come as had been expected but since the whole facility was booked, he can not pay back that money.

He further defends the high rates he is charged during that period; further dismissing claims that the facility was incomplete.
