The chairperson of the Uganda Electoral Commission, Eng. Badru Kiggundu has called upon political parties to file their financial reports to avoid being caught up by deadline.
Kiggundu says the commission has written to all parties to file their financial reports or risk facing penalties as stipulated by the law.
He revealed that the ruling National Resistance Movement government (NRM) and opposition Democratic Party (DP) are some of the parties in Uganda that have not handed over information on their sources of funds and assets as required by laws in Uganda.
Kigundu expressed concern at the poor culture of filing financial records by political parties saying some of the parties that have filed their financial reports to the commission have done it in bits.
