As the race for the Mukono North Parliamentary seat heats up, some members of the Democratic Party are accusing the party president Nobert Mao of denying them opportunity to vie for the position.

Two members of the party Zirimala Kiggundu and John Musisi accuse president Mao of choosing Betty Namboze as the party candidate without going through the proper procedures.

They have now taken the matter to Court seeking order that prohibits Namboze from being declared the official party candidate until party primaries have been held.

Zirimala Kiggundu claims that he declared his interest to vie for the said parliamentary seat in 2008 and applied to the national executive committee for approval, which he now accuses of ignoring his application with no justified reason.

The DP president Norbert Mao and three other top party officials are to give their defense in the matter that is now before the High Court.
