The Ministry of Health has send out notices to police stations in Kabale to arrest persons engaged in the sale of all types of waragi (alcohol). Over 65 people in Kabale have died after consuming suspected poisonous waragi in the last two weeks.

The ministry of Uganda for Health in September last year banned the manufacture and sale of waragi in sachets after the poisonous waragi killed several people in different parts of the country.

The State Minister for Health, James Kakooza says the police should arrest people dealing in waragi if Ugandans in Kabale are to be protected from consuming alcohol.

The Minister says police have been put on alert to arrest any waragi dealer in Kabale.
