The ruling National Resistance Movement government (NRM) rigged Padyere county parliamentary by-elections.
The President General of Uganda Peoples Congress, Dr. Olara Otunu said the exercise of electing the new MP for Padyere registered major complaints like vote rigging, names of opposition supporters’ missing on the register, heavy police deployment to intimidate opposition supporters from voting and police arrests.

Speaking in Kampala today, Dr. Otunnu said Police arrested several UPC supporters and released them in evening when the by-election exercise was complete.
NRM flag-bearer, Dr. Paschal Odoch on Tuesday won the Padyere polls with 14,816 votes.
An independent candidate, Joshua Anywarach was runner up in the race of five candidates. Anywarach got 10,036 votes.
The flag bearer of Forum for Democratic Change, Okwir-Amula got 4,025 votes while Charles Ulangi of Uganda Peoples Congress had 2,818 votes in the race where Kizito Ngabirombo, an independent candidate trailed with 300 votes.
Padyere County seat fell vacant following the death of former area MP David Ringe-Chan in February this year.
