The ministry of disaster preparedness says it has finally finished drafting the policy that will provide mechanisms for timely prediction and response to disasters in the country.

Uganda has for long lacked a national disaster policy, a fact that has often been blamed for the slow response to natural calamities.

The state minister for disaster preparedness, Musa Ecweru says the new policy will go a long way in streamline issues of disaster management in the country.
