Members of Parliament on the National Economy committee have disagreed over approval of a loan request seeking to procure fire fighting and waste management equipments worth billions of shillings.
Government last month tabled the 200 billion shillings loan from the Chinese EXIM bank to facilitate the procurement of fire fighting trucks, waste management and road units.
Some of the MPs expressed concerns that one of the conditions that allows government to procure a percentage of the equipment was not included in the Memorandum of Understanding, creating suspicion.
The MP for Butambala, Ibrahim Kaddunabbi says that government has to be careful when procuring such trucks from China as the same vehicles which were procured by Kampala City Council two years ago have already broken down.
