Uganda’s coffee exports for the month of May 2010 are on increase.
The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) says the country’s coffee experts have not changed from the same period in 2009 due to good weather.
UCDA however says Uganda’s coffee exports declined a few months back because the harvesting season in some parts of the country was ending.
Uganda is one of Africa’s leading exporters of coffee.
UCDA says Uganda exported over 152,640 bags of coffee in April this year and earned over $15.5 million compared with 205,725 bags of coffee in April last year which earned only $19.1 million.
UCDA says Uganda coffee exports at the end of May this year are projected to be over 220,000 bags.
In May 2009, Uganda coffee exports stood at 220,620 bags and earned Uganda 20.3 US million dollars.
