Civil society organisations have expressed concern over the safety of people with disabilities on roads.
There are many acts that were formulated to carter for people with disability but many have remained at policy level.
The chairman National Union of disabled persons in Uganda Kinubi Francis says there is need to follow up on implementation of such provisions.
He argues that the blind particularly remain at risk when crossing roads since some recommendations in the road and traffic act concerning them have not been implemented.
He cites the installation of alarm systems at traffic lights to guide the blind while crossing roads.
