The Electoral Commission in Uganda is probing allegations that some of its top officials were involved in rigging elections in the Tuesday Parliamentary by-elections in Mukono North in favour of the government candidate in the race, Peter Bakaluba Mukasa.
Reports indicate that some officials of Electoral Commission who supervised Kalangala Sub County allegedly inflated the election results by at least 500 votes in favour of the NRM candidate.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Eng. Dadru Kiggundu has told journalists in Kampala that they are considering taking disciplinary measures against the said officials.
He says the action of conniving with politicians to rig elections in favour of some candidates is highly prohibited.
