ICC meeting opens in Kampala

The International Criminal Court (ICC) review conference has opened in Kampala.

 The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon while opening the meeting called upon African leaders to support the ICC.

The meeting has been attended by over 10,000 delegates from Africa and Europe among other areas.

Ban Ki Moon says many leaders, especially in Africa are giving the ICC undue criticism. He says the ICC is out to fight crimes commuted against humanity.

Ki-Moon says many African leaders recently angrily attacked the ICC for issuing a warrant of arrest against Sudanese president Omar El Bashir.

He says the criticism African leaders are giving the world court many times are inaccurate.

Ban Ki-Moon urges African leaders to support the Court to fight the crimes against humanity.

The former UN Secretary General, Kofi Anan and President Museveni of Uganda are attending the court.
