Air Uganda and Rwanda air have signed a code share agreement that will allow their customers to use both airlines to fly to and fro Kigali and other destinations across East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi.
The shared codes agreement is intended to help customers enjoy non stop flights between Kigali, Entebbe and Nairobi.
The Chief Executive Officer of Air Uganda, Hugh Fraser says the deal will enable the two flight companies to provide additional benefits and services like traveling for 45 minutes to Kigali rather than spending 4 hours flying.
The Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Air, Rene Janata added that the deal will help ease the strain on customers’ expenditure by 30 percent on Air tickets purchase to Kigali because of the direct flights.
Air Uganda was started with the help of Aga Khan’s fund for economic development. Air Uganda has been in air transport for over three years.
