The Auditor General, John Muwanga has expressed confidence that audits on the roads would increase accountability in Uganda.
Presenting the national budget for 2010/2011 on Thursday at Kampala Serena Hotel, the Minister for Finance Syda Bbumba said the Auditor General would start carrying out technical audits on roads for proper accountability.
The country’s poor state of roads has often been blamed on shoddy work by contractors and corruption in Uganda’s ministry of Works and Transport.
The Auditor General expressed optimism that this would improve accountability and the quality of road works in different parts of the country.
