The Uganda workers Member of Parliament, Hon. Sam Lyomoki has appealed to the government to consider further increasing the salaries of Health workers because the 30 percent salary increment in the 2010/11 Uganda national budget is not enough.
The MP told journalists in Kampala that government had promised to increase health workers salary to international standards and has not fulfilled the promise.
Lyomoki says the workers union body will continue to push for salary increment and better working conditions in Uganda government hospital and health centres to uplift their livelihoods.
He says that government should also consider priotising the fight against corruption in government hospitals and health centres so as to ensure effective delivery of health services to the people of Uganda.
The workers MP says stealing drugs in government hospitals has claimed the lives of many people who die due to lack of drugs.
