People doing business between Turkey and East Africa have a reason to be happy following the start of direct flights from Turkey to Uganda and Tanzania.

Turkish Airlines flying to Ugandan and Tanzania

Turkish Airlines announced on Monday it has started its new three-times-weekly non-stop service between Istanbul, Entebbe (Uganda) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).

Speaking at a press conference after a ceremony held at the Entebbe International Airport on Monday, Turkish Airlines (THY) chairman Hamdi Topcu said Africa is an important continent and a strategic partner for Turkey, the reason the airline decided to start direct flights.

The company announced earlier that round-trip tickets from Istanbul to Dar es Salaam will be on sale from 367 Euros, from Istanbul to Entebbe 376 Euros (including all taxes) between 14^th June-14^th July 2010.

A statement from the Turkish Airlines indicates that the airline will be taking passengers from Istanbul to Entebbe and Dar es Salaam on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The flights to Entebbe and Dar es Salaam will take place as follows in Local Mean Time;

Rama Makuza, the head of Uganda’s Civial Aviation Authority said today at the conference that THY’s launching direct flights to Entebbe would improve the economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Uganda.
