Thousands of Ugandans in different parts of the country have wake up today morning to go and register to vote in 2011 general elections. The exercise that kicked off on May 3rd ends today June 14, 2010.
The chairperson of Electoral Commission, Eng. Badru Kiggundu says the commission will not extend the exercise. Ugandans in their thousands have thronged the registration centres to meet the registration deadline.
The commission has also increased manpower at registration centers across the country where more people are queuing to register.
Kiggundu says the commission wants registration centres to register all people today without fail since there is no chance to extend the exercise.
Many people of voting age in Uganda are still not registered to vote in 2011. Several politicians, religious, opinion and traditional leaders have been urging the commission to extend the exercise in vain.
