The Director of the Uganda Blood Transfusion Service, Dr. Dorothy Kyeyune has urged the youths in Uganda to donate blood as the world celebrates the World Blood Donor Day on June 14, 2010.

The World Blood Donor Day has been celebrated under the theme “New blood for the world”
Kyeyune has told the press in Kampala that the reason why she has called upon the youth to donate blood on this day is because the 2010 global campaign on blood donating sharply focuses on encouraging young people to donate blood.
She says that it is hoped that if young people donate blood, that will improve on the sufficiency of the country’s blood supply since the young people are the majority in Uganda.
Kyeyune says she will be glad if the youth respond to this call.
