The soldiers who are on the hunt down for Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels led by Joseph Kony were probably killed by the Sudanese Janjaweed Militias and not LRA according to the UPDF.

Nyakairima says four groups have already been identified for thorough investigations. The Uganda Army head of land forces Lt. Gen Katumba Wamala has already been dispatched to the crime scene to gather information.

Nyakairima says the killers were not LRA because their fighting skills were far different from Kony’s LRA guerrilla warfare tactics. He says the UPDF received many causalities because they were not prepared for an encounter in such a vast forested area.

The UPDF has neither named the dead or the injured but says the injured are receiving treatment.

The over 20 year LRA insurgency led by Joseph Kony has led to untold suffering in Northern Uganda, Southern Sudan, DR Congo and CAR. Uganda Army efforts to launch attacks in countries where Kony operates have only succeeded in weakening his capacity to cause trouble more trouble in Northern Uganda.
