The Kenya Red Cross society is hosting the first East Africa philanthropist conference aimed at exploring ways to improve the livelihoods of the East African people who are increasingly facing problems ranging from natural calamities to poverty.
The conference dubbed the East African Grant Makers will be held on 29th June, 2010 at Red Court Hotel in the Kenyan Capital City of Nairobi.
The conference held under the theme ‘Expanding Frontiers For Philosophy in East Africa: Strengthening Partnerships’ will bring all stakeholders together to speak with each other and reflect on the role each one of them will play to make philanthropy a reality.
The conference organized by the East Africa Association of Grant makers, an initiative group of trust and foundations working in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya who came together to form a new membership organization for grant making bodies across the region.
This is welcome news to the East African development organizations and governments who have been solely depending on the western world philanthropists for development aid which comes with a lot of conditions tied to them.
