An 84 year old man, Paul Mpagi has come out and accused Minister of Security Amama Mbabazi of grabbing the Temangalo land from him and 4 other occupants.
This land which was a source of controversy when it was sold to the National Social Security Fund at a price alleged to be inflated about two years ago.
Mpagi has told the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises that that Mbabazi sold that land to NSSF without consulting them yet they have been occupants of that land for
a long time as customary owners of the land.
Mpagi says he has made several calls to the minister but Mbabazi has refused to pick the calls to discuss this issue concerning the land and that is why he decided to turn to the parliamentary committee for assistance in this matter.
Mpagi has also accused Mbabazi of threatening the tenants through his agent to demolish Mpagi’s house on the land if Mpagi does not leave the land though Mpagi has refused to heed to the threats.
He says that he wants Mbabazi to give back the land title of the Temangalo land to him and the other occupants of the land. He says they are not interested in his compensation.
Efforts to get a comment from Minister Amama Mbabazi on the matter were not successful as he was reported to be in a meeting.
