AFLI to launch 3rd Uganda Parliamentary Scorecard next month


The African Leadership Institute (AFLI) is set to launch the Uganda Parliamentary Scorecard of the 3rd year for the 8th Parliament of Uganda on July 28th 2010.

The Parliamentary scorecard is a project under the governance programme whose objective is to empower citizens monitor and assess the performance of their Members of Parliament by providing them with objective and accurate information on an annual basis.

The Acting Executive Director of AFLI, Tobias Olweny told journalists at the Serena Hotel in Kampala that the launch of the project will be presided over by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Olweny says that AFLI also hopes to expand to other East African countries since it is a project that was started to promote good governance throughout Africa and not just Uganda.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors Elly Karuhanga says AFLI will be able to come up with the scorecard in partnership with other entities like Stanford and Columbia Universities in USA among others.
