The Deputy Secretary General of the Uganda ruling National Resistance Movement Party (NRM) Dorothy Hyuha, has indicated that indiscipline among NRM party members is the cause of the recent election losses to the opposition.
The Uganda ruling NRM party recently lost the Mbale municipality and Mukono North Parliamentary by-elections to the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Democratic Party (DP) respectively.
Hyuha who is also the Uganda government minister without portfolio called for the banning of independent candidates because they go against the party decisions and contest for the races after being defeated by in the party primaries.
NRM is holding a general National Party’s conference at Namboole National stadium in Kampala to elect the party’s flag bearers in preparation for the coming 2011 Uganda General elections.
The Uganda President Yoweri Museveni is expected to sail through as the flag bearer for the NRM’s president as no serious contender is in the race.
