The Minister of State for Northern Uganda Reconstruction, David Wakikona has revealed the government of Uganda and different stakeholders on Monday June 28th start a review of the Northern Uganda Peace Recovery and Development Programme (PRDP).

Wakikona tells journalists in Kampala that the 3rd such review meeting meeting set to take place at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
He says the third PRDP (Peace Recovery and Development Programme) Monitoring Committee meeting will focus on critical assessment of the first year of full scale implementation of the PRDP and with particularly emphasis on successes registered during the year and the lessons learnt from the failures in the implementation of the programme.
The PRDP programme which covers 44 districts will have 55 districts under the programme after 1st July 2010 following the creation of new districts. The programme has about 123 billion shillings at its disposal to enable it implement development programme in northern Uganda in the 2010/2011 financial year.
Wakikona says in that meeting the PMC will not only evaluate how PRDP has performed in the first year of its full implementation but also help to prepare for the second year of the PRDP implementation in Northern Uganda.
He says however in the second year of the implementation of the PRDP, the government of Uganda is most likely to continue to focus on four sectors of water, health, education and infrastructure in the implementation of the programme.
