The President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has mourned Flugencio Magembe, a senior police officer attached to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kampala, who died on Tuesday night at Mulago Hospital.
In a media statement seen by Ultimate Media, Museveni decried the loss of one of Uganda’s trained bomb experts who will be hard to replace.
The deceased was among the team of Uganda’s security personnel who were trained by American Federal Investigations Bureau (FBI) a decade ago to fight anti terrorism.
After the US training, Magembe become part of Uganda’s security organs that helped curb increased cases of terrorism in Uganda’s capital city of Kampala.
The doctors at Uganda Mulago National Referral Hospital are yet to release Magembe’s postmortem but family members say that he died of leg pains.
A requiem mass for him has been held today (30th June 2010) at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kampala.
The late Walugembe’s body has been taken to Kyanamukaaka in Central Uganda district of Masaka for burial on Thursday.
