The Uganda High Court has directed the parents of Budo Junior School to speed up their negotiations with the Uganda government for an out of court settlement over the Budo fire inferno.
The Budo Junior parents are demanding compensation from the Uganda government for their burnt children. The 2008 fire inferno whose cause is still unknown claimed the lives of 20 children. The suspects arrested for the fire were released by court due to lack of sufficient evidence.
The Uganda Government State Attorney, Ellison Karuhanga says their office is still consulting their superiors in government to see ways of how they could reach an out of court case settlements with the complainants (Budo Parents).
The parents are demanding 20 million shillings for each child lost from Uganda government. Budo Junior School is one of the best public primary schools in Uganda located in Central Uganda district of Wakiso.
Karuhanga told Uganda High Court Judge Faith Mwondha today (30th June 2010) that he was still trying to contact the parent’s lawyer, Medard Lubega Ssegona of Lukwago and company advocates for a meeting.
The Budo case inferno will resume on 22nd November 2010.
