Members of the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association have tasked the Uganda parliament speaker Edward Ssekandi to give a date when the Uganda Parliament will debate misappropriation of the 2007 Uganda Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The report prepared by the Uganda Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee and completed in early 2010 implicated top government officials including Uganda Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, Foreign Affairs minister Sam Kuteesa, Security Minister Amama Mbabazi among others.
Ssekandi who promised Uganda Parliamentary Journalists to debate the CHOGM report in August or September 2010 says that the debate on the report has been delayed because Uganda parliament has been busy with a number of government activities like the State of the Nation Address and the 2010/11 Uganda National Budget.
The Uganda parliament speaker adds he is constrained because deciding which issues to debate in Parliament is a preserve of the parliamentary committee on parliamentary business.
