Over 50 Northern Uganda chiefs from Gulu district will be the first people to benefit from houses constructed using form blocks made by hydraform machines donated by the prime ministers office in 2009.
The Minister of State for Northern Uganda reconstruction, David Wakikhona told journalists in Kampala on Friday that the blocks will help construct stable houses because they are of good quality. He says that Uganda government has already tested them on Kweyo Military Barracks in Northern Uganda.
Wakikhona adds that Uganda government decided to first construct houses for chiefs to enable them focus on doing their leadership work after getting permanent settlements.
Uganda government and donors are currently busy trying to resettle the people of Northern Uganda after over 20 years of Lords Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency which left millions displaced tens of thousands of deaths and hundreds of abductions among others.
