The secretary General of the Uganda Democratic Party (DP), Mathias Nsubuga has indicated that the party will internally deal with Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) over a militia group it formed.
The UYD deputy national leader Moses Bigirwa said on Thursday that DP had formed a youth group to counter the highly unpopular Kiboko squad.
The group dubbed Democratic Defence Force (DDF) aims at protecting people, identifying potential enemies and ensuring balance of terror between the Uganda government and the opposition according to Bigirwa,.
Nsubuga told journalists in kampala today (2nd June 2010) that DP has no such militia group and is not planning to form any.
UYD is known for going against the decisions of the main DP party. Recently, it decided to join the Uganda opposition alliance called the Inter-party cooperation (IPC) which the main DP party refused to join.
