The chairperson of the commission, Meddie Kaggwa says there are outstanding arrears amounting to over two billion shillings.

The arrears arise from awards given to individuals who have suffered human rights abuse at the hands of state security organs like police, army and stick wielding men popularly known as kibooko squad.

The chairperson calls upon the government to release the funds to ensure that justice is done.

Kaggwa has asked the Parliament’s Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee to follow up the matter.
