The government of Uganda will compensate those that survived the recent bomb blasts in Kampala but were injured as result, with 3 million shillings per person that was injured.

Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere

In a statement that has been delivered to Parliament of Uganda, the Minister of Disaster Preparedness, Prof.  Tarsis Kabwegyere said that the whereas those that suffered injuries as a result of the blasts will get 3 million shillings (about $1,450) , the families of those that died as a result of the blats will be given 5 million shillings (about $2400).

Kabwegere says the money will be delivered directly to the injured people in case of the injured and to the next of kin in case of the dead.

He says that the Uganda ministry of health is working out and compiling the list of the victims of the Kampala Sunday bomb attacks that left at least 76 people dead and more than 50 injured.

Prof. Kabwegyere says the victims will not have to go to go to the ministry to claim for compensation but the ministry will work out a way of delivering the money directly to them in their homes.

Kabwegyere also announced that Friday, July 15 2010 will be a day of national prayers for the bereaved families and the injured for quick recovery in all mosques around the country.

He says on Saturday July 16 2010, it will be a day of National Prayers in all Seventh Day Adventist Churches and on Sunday July 17, 2010 in all churches around the country.
