The government of Uganda is in the process of formulating new guidelines to implement the second phase of the National Agricultural Advisory Services programme commonly known as Naads.
The programme was recently halted by President Yoweri Museveni following several complaints from the public of mismanagement of funds by the NAADS officials. Most of the projects were reportedly not reaching the intended beneficiaries.
Addressing the media at Parliament in Kampala today, the NAADS Executive Director, Dr. Salim Nahdy revealed that the new guidelines will help in improving agriculture.
Agriculture minister, Hope Mwesigye also says that despite several flaws in the first NAADS project, many districts performed well and farmers have greatly improved their livelihoods.
