The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee has today directed the Ministry of Lands to provide a list of Members of Parliament who failed to account for sensitization funds on the Land Amendment bill.

According to the Auditor General’s report ending 2008, over 400 million shillings was provided to several leaders to carry out the land amendment bill sensitization under the land tenure reform project but about 19 million shillings was not accounted for.

The Lands Permanent Secretary, Musoke Gabindadde, while appearing before the committee today, had furnished the MPs with a list of some individuals who had accounted and revealed that some legislators had not yet sent their accountability.

The committee lead counsel, Tom Kazibwe says that the funds could have been diverted for other activities and directed that the ministry recovers the money within two months.
