Late Lady Damalie Kisosonkole
The late Nabagereka of Buganda Lady Damalie Kisosonkole has been laid to rest at Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala this Monday evening.
Lady Damalie Kisosonkole 80, the Nnaabagereka to the late Sir Edward Muteesa II passed away on Monday 12th July 2010 at Nakasero hospital where she had been hospitalized for some time.
The late lady Damalie Kisosonkole has been laid to rest in a colourful ceremony attended by many top central government and Buganda kingdom officials.

In his speech led for him by Prime Minister Prof. Apollo Nsibambi at the funeral service, President Yoweri Museveni hailed the late as a committed mother who properly raised her children even in challenging circumstances when the Kabaka Mutesa II was deposed by Obote 1 government.
Museveni also commended the late Damalie for her efforts to fight against polio and championing girl child education and mobilizing women for development programs. He noted that lady Damalie played a great role in mobilizing mothers to immunize their children against polio.
The Late Kisosonkole was born in September 1930 to the late Christopher Kisosonkole was a sister to Sarah Kisosonkole, the mother of the current king of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Katikkiro Eng J.B. Walusimbi who spoke on behalf of Buganda kingdom called upon Baganda to work for stability in Buganda. He revealed that a few days before her death, the late Damalie appealed to him to ensure that all efforts are geared towards stabilizing the Kingdom.
