Abacus Parental Drugs Ltd has pledged to donate IV fluids and solar lamps to five hospitals for six months.
The hospitals that will benefit from the donations include Namwenda Hospital in Kamuli, Kiryandongo Hospital in Masindi, Kagadi Hospital in Kagadi, Mityana Hospital in Mityana and Hoima Hospital.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has told journalists at the Media Centre that he is delighted that Abacus has heeded to the call that women members of Parliament made to Private Sector companies last month to ensure that they prioritize health in the Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes.
Kadaga says other companies should also follow the example of Abacus and contribute t the health project the MPs started that is aimed at reaching out to as many sick people as possible in the country through lobbying companies for financial contributions to a health project that is likely to cost about 900, 000 million shillings.
The legislator says the MPs will ensure that these drugs and solar lamps reach the intended recipients.
Abacus is Uganda’s leading manufacturer of IV fluid drugs in Uganda, an innovative investment that earned the company the Investor of the Year Award from the Uganda Investment Authority in 2009.
