The Katikkiro of Buganda, Eng. JB Walusimbi has denied allegations that the kingdom is working to unseat the ruling government. The Katikkiro says Buganda is out to promote culture and kiganda norms.

He says the decision by the former ministers and Katikkiros in Buganda kingdom to join opposition is not a move by Buganda kingdom to support opposition. Speaking to journalists in Kampala today, Walusimbi said Buganda is not engaging it’s self in the politics of the day.
He says all people in Buganda including politicians in DP, UPC, FDC and the ruling National Resistance Movement are part of Buganda kingdom and the institution supports them all.
The two former Katikkiros of Buganda, Dan Muliika and Joseph Mulwanyamuli joined the opposition coalition, the interparty cooperation on June 8th this year.
