The bomb blasts that hit Kampala and left over 75 people dead last had a great effect on the theatre industry with a cross section of drama groups last week canceling their weekly shows as they joined the rest of Ugandans to mourn the mass loss of lives.
Theatre Factory and the Ebonies are some of the theatre groups that were forced to cancel their weekly shows but will both be resuming their shows this week.
Theatre factory will resume its weekly comedy nights that show every Thursday at the National Theatre gardens.
Similarly the Ebonies will resume their weekly shows of their new production, Quandary Indigida a tale of love, lust, lies and revenge on Saturday at their home Theatre La Bonita.
Theatre factory is one of Uganda’s leading skit comedy groups in Uganda. The group headed by Philip Luswata is six years old now.
On the other hand, the Ebonies are one of Uganda’s oldest and leading Drama group that feature renowned actors like Sam Bagenda commonly known as Bbosa.
The Ebonies came to be endeared to many Ugandans in the 90’s when their TV series “That is Life Mwattu” that was shown on Uganda Television (Now Uganda Broadcasting Corporation) became a popular television item in Uganda. Due to its popularity UBC decided to show the series for another time.
