The South African Music legend Yvonne Chaka had hundreds Ugandans grooving along with her when she put up a spirited performance during the Hakuna Wakati Abuja 15% Sasa concert.
The Concert which was themed “Africa wins every time you keep your promise” was aimed at creating awareness and reminding African leaders of their promise that they made in 2001 in the Abuja declaration to commit 15% of their budget funding to the health sector by 2015 saw a host of artistes from other African countries perform alongside Ugandan artistes.
Mingas from Mozambique and Maiko Zulu from Zambia equally put up energetic performance that left people that attended the concert excited.
Never the less the most exciting performances from our local artistes was from veteran singer Bobi Wine though the performances from other singers like Fina Masanyalaze, Dr. Propa, Racheal Magola, Maddox Sematimba, Joanita Kawalya and Afrigo Band were equally exciting and left the crowd at Africana enthused.
At the concert the artists also came together also came together the theme song for the Abuja 15% concert which was composed by Joanita Kawalya, Carol Nabulime and Jemimah Sanyu
The concert was sponsored by a host of Non Governmental Organizations like Action Aid, World Aids Campaign, Uganda Network of Aids Service Organizations, Oxfam and the White Ribbon Alliance among others.
Chaka Chaka is one of the musicians considered to be a role model through the African continent because apart from singing she is a willing warrior for change as she has assisted in promoting women’s rights and is a United Nations Children’s Fund good will ambassador against Malaria.
