Businesses undertaking or planning to undertake food processing and agriculture related businesses have a chance to win a funding price of US$15,000 at the 2010 Agribusiness Forum.
Participants in the Agribusiness Forum will be eligible to enter their project ideas for the EMRC-Rabobank Project Incubator Award whose grand prize is US$15,000 so long as the individual or company demonstrates their idea is viable, dynamic, and uplifts and impacts their immediate community.
EMRC says the awards are aimed at encouraging the development of innovation and entrepreneurship in the agro-food sector in Africa.
The Agribuisness Forum is organised by the Brussels-based nonprofit organisation EMRC (European marketing Research Center) in partnership with the Government of Uganda. It will take place at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort from October 3rd to October 6th 2010.
According to the organizers, the annual business Forum that aims to contribute to the sustainable economic growth of Africa by further developing its agriculture and agro-food industry, with the expertise, experience and involvement of knowledgeable individuals and institutions.
The event is expected to gather industry leaders, cooperatives, Small and Medium Scale enterprises, Financiers, Government Officials, NGOs, Researchers, Int’l Organisations, Multinationals and Donors from different parts of the world.
Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and that of Trade, Tourism and Industry are organizing the 2010 Agribusiness Forum with EMRC. Established in 1992 in Brussels, EMRC is a non-profit International Association composed of a network of entrepreneurs, financiers, consultants and officials based throughout the world.
According to a statement from the Uganda Media Center, President Yoweri Museveni will open the 2010 Agribusiness Forum on October 4th 2010. Hope Mwesigye. the Minister of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fishers and Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafire, the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Industry are leading the preparations for the 2010 Agribusiness Forum in Uganda.
