Former NSSF board chairman Onegi Obel has been granted bail by the High Court Anti-Corruption division in Kampala.
Onegi Obel was remanded last week after his bail was canceled following his committal to the High Court to stand corruption related trial.
Obel faces charges of abuse of office, and causing financial loss of over 8bn shillings to the fund.
He is alleged to have led NSSF into a joint venture agreement with Mugoya estates to construct housing units at Nsimbe estates, without subjecting the same to competitive bidding process.
The head of the anti-corruption unit Justice J.B Katutsi has released him on a cash bail of 2million shillings, while his sureties are required to sign bonds worth 500 million shillings not cash.
Oneg Obel has also been directed not to travel outside the country without informing Court. Court is yet to set a date when the hearing begins.
