The Civil Society has called upon the public not vote for the Ministers that were implicated in the Common Wealth Head of Government Meeting Report for swindling tax payers’ money as the report indicated out of Parliament.
About two months ago, the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament presented the CHOGM report on the floor of Parliament that has findings on the abuse of cash meant for preparing CHOGM by various ministers. However since then though the Speaker promised the Media that report would be debated soon so far there are fears that the report may not be debated as soon as the Speaker of Parliament promised.
Miria Matembe, a former Minister in the present government has told a “Citizens Parliament Session” at Hotel Africana that the civil society should ensure that people know about the CHOGM report.
Matembe says if people know what is this report and the people it implicates, they will mostly likely not vote the implicated ministers back into Parliament.
The Citizens Parliament session has been organised by the National NGO Forum under the theme “End Impunity Now.”
