Civil society organizations in Uganda are protesting against the failure by government to ensure access to birth control services

Currently, at least 41% of Ugandan women in need to family planning commodities are unable to access them.

Government is now being urged to increase the family planning budget from the current 1.5 billion to 24 billion shillings, in line with its commitments under the Abuja Declaration.

The National coordinator Uganda Health consumer organization Robinah Kaitiritimba says addressing the family planning needs will also help check poverty levels.
