At least more Ugandans in Kampala and other urban centers in Uganda steal piped water by bypassing or manipulating water meters.
The sources working with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation have told Ultimate Media this morning that the body is compiling up a list of people who have been stealing water since 2008.
The sources say the National Water and Sewerage Corporation plans to publish this list which contains MPs, civil servants and other influential persons in the society in local newspapers very soon.
The sources heading the investigation of water theft says about 35% of the water supplied by National Water and Sewerage Corporation is stolen through bypassing and tempering with water meters.
The head of the Revenue Protection Unit at National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Yann Jodeau recently said illegal water connections negatively affects honest water uses because illegal connections leads to lower pressure and contamination as dirt enters through illegal connection points.
