The Prime Minister of Uganda, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi has called upon the National Alcohol Control Board to check on the consumption of alcohol in Uganda.
Tens of Ugandans recently lost their lives due to consumption of suspected poisonous alcohol.
Nsibambi asks the alcohol board to check on the quality and the rate of alcohol consumption in Uganda.
He says the board has a duty to address issues of alcohol abuse and drug abuse.
Speaking to journalists in Kampala today, Nsibambi said the board needs to control the consumption of alcohol because too much boozing reduces the rate of development in the country.
He further says the consumption of too much alcohol may lead to death, unemployment, defilement and rape.
