Over 34 Ugandan doctors have trained and acquired new knowledge in brain surgery at Mulago hospital.

The doctors started the training in November 2009. This is the first time Ugandan medical doctors have studied brain surgery within Uganda.
The head of Neurosurgery at Mulago Hospital, Dr. Micheal Muhumuza has said that the training in brain surgery was sponsored by Duke University of United States of America and the government of Uganda.
Speaking in Mulago today, Dr. Micheal Muhumuza further said Mulago National Referral hospital offered the students with accommodation.
Muhumuza says the doctors who have trained in brain surgery will be awarded masters’ degrees in neurosurgery.
