The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams has this morning met African bishops in Entebbe, Uganda. Dr Williams arrived in Uganda on Monday this week to attend an All Africa Bishops Conference in Entebbe.
The conference is aimed at restoring unity among members of the Anglican Church across Africa and the world at large. The archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi on Monday this week told journalists in Kampala that the unity in the protestant church across the world is currently broken because of Williams’ perceived tolerance of homosexuals in Anglican Church. Over 400 bishops are attending the Entebbe conference including among others, the Chairman of the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa (CAPA), Rt. Rev. Ian Ernest.
The conference organised by the Church of Uganda and CAPA is running under the theme “Securing the Future, unlocking our potential.” The conference runs from August 24th to August 29th, 2010.
