Kampala City Traders operating in Nakasero Market have said they are bitter about the smell from large heaps of garbage located near their market.
They have told journalists in Kampala today that efforts to make the leaders of Kampala City Council to remove the garbage have failed so they plan to hold a demonstration soon.
Moses Kabanda, one of the leaders of Kampala traders has said that they have complained several times to Kampala district leaders that the garbage produces an unpleasant smell and that smell is affecting their health.
He says they have complained to the Town Clerk of Kampala, Ruth Kijjambu and to the Mayor of Kampala, Hajji Sebaggala about the heaps of garbage but nothing has been done to bring the situation to normal. Kabanda says the traders feel that the only way they will force Kampala City Council to always collect the garbage on time is to stage a demonstration.
The Spokesperson of Kampala City Traders Association Issa Sekitto has said that Kampala City Council is supposed to collect the garbage daily but it sometimes takes days or months.
