The police have beefed up security at the head offices of Electoral Commission in Kampala following the July 11 bombings in Kampala in which over 76 people died and scores injured.
Over 20 armed Police officers in both uniform and civilian clothes have been deployed to guard the gates of Electoral Commission offices on Kampala Jinja road.
The Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura has said that the role of Uganda police is to keep law and order across the country.
He says the Electoral Commission is one of the places in Uganda that could be key targets for terrorists so the need for tight security there.
He also says police have also beefed up security in night clubs, institutions of learning, government bodies, shopping malls and all other public places.
Addressing journalists in Kibuli today, Kayihura said police do not want to experience more terrorist attacks in Uganda in future.
