The Political Parties that turned up for a public debate on health organized by has identified resource wastage as one of the biggest constraints of the improvement of the health sector in the country.
The three political parties, the Uganda People’s Congress, the People’s Development Party and the Uganda Federal Alliance that turned up for the debate to give their policy proposals to matters concerning health identified resource wastage as one biggest constraint to the sector.
The President of the People’s Development Party, Abed Bwanika has said that Uganda wastes a lot of funds through corruption which would have been helpful in transforming the health sector.
He says if only Uganda managed to fight corruption which has been the cause of this resource wastage, then the health sector would be in better shape than it is now.
The President of the Uganda Federal Alliance, Betty Kamya has on the other hand suggested other than the government spending so much on its many ministers and officials, it should rather spend on important sectors of the economy like health.
In a country where most sectors of the economy are still crippled about 950 million dollars are lost by the government every year in corruption related scandals.
