Manchester United travel to Goodson Park early Saturday afternoon hoping for a good result from Everton who have got only one point from their first three opening matches for the 2010 Premier league season.
For Sir Alex Ferguson who will be overseeing his 700th match in charge of Manchester United, a win would be a good reward. But Manchester United’s own performance so far has not been 100% as they lost points to Fulham and are trailing premiership table Leaders Chelsea by two points.
Matters for Manchester United are not helped by the pressure their key striker Wayne Rooney is facing following infidelity allegations that have been circulating in UK tabloid press.
Rooney who came to football prominence as a teenage striker at Everton is expected to face some crowd booing at Goodison Park, which might affect his match performance.
Ferguson has however assured Manchester United supporters that Rooney’s off field woes will not affect his performance this afternoon as Man U looks to get maximum points to keep their title challenge on course.
David Moyes will however be keen not to give Manchester any room for an easy win as his Everton looks for the first win of the season, and to jump out of the relegation zone they are currently in.
